WILSON STRINGS PROGRAM
GIVES STUDENTS CHANCE TO MAKE MUSIC

Due to budget cuts over the last 15 years, decreases in music programs at the elementary levels, particularly in strings programs, have caused the demise of the Wilson High School orchestra. To provide the opportunity for students to play in a group setting, Wilson has added a small chamber orchestra for the past two years, with support from a strings specialist for their wonderful band director, Paul Jolstead.

However, we need to raise funds, once again, in order for our students to continue to access support in this speciality area during the 2010-11 school year.

Chamber Orchestra will be offered 1st period at Wilson, to accommodate as many students from Wilson area schools as possible.  Mr. Jolstead hopes to access "Strings" support through a guest expert for Wilson's Chamber Orchestra for 3 days per week.  However, the amount of time is dependent upon the funds we are able to raise.

GOAL:  To raise $8,000 to help pay for the "Strings" expert.
